What is the Direct Aid Program? / Tera te Direct Aid Program?

The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a flexible small grants program funded by the Australian Government and managed through the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT) overseas posts. The program aims to support projects with a strong development focus that complement Australia's broader aid program which contributes to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction.

The grant is available for applicants that do not represent government or councils. These may include: / Te buoka aio e tauraoi nakoia botaki ma rabwata aika a aki mena iaan te tautaeka ke kauntira. N aron aikai:

a) Communities
b) Clubs
c) Villages
d) Churches and faith-based organisations
e) Non-government organisations (NGOs) 

What type of projects are eligible for DAP Support? / Tera karikirakei aika boutokaaki n te buoka ae te DAP?

Projects that aim at achieving effective development outcomes and are of high development impact. These may include projects that: / Karikirake ake a taaketen bwaai aika a kai nooraki mwiia aika tamaroa ao ni korakora te rikirake ma iai. N aron aikai:

• Government entities and state owned enterprises / Ana kambana te tautaeka (PUB etc..)

• Councils / Kauntira
• Businesses / Bitineti

What kind of projects can’t be supported by DAP? / Tera karikirake aika a aki kona ni boutokaki n te buoka ae te DAP?

Beyond applicant eligibility criteria, we will not support projects that include the following ineligible items in their budget: / Karikirake ake a riaon ana kainibaire te buoka aei, e bon kona naba n aki boutokaaki ngkana a rin bwaai aikai n te kataumwane:

Proposals must be clearly defined with specific outputs. Proposals will be approved or rejected on the basis of / E riai n matata raoi oin bukin te karikirake. A na kona ni butimwaeaki ke n aki butimwaeaki karikirake iaan bukina aikai:

This form is to be completed by the applicant online. Notes:

1. DAP building and construction related projects should meet or exceed Australian standards wherever reasonably practicable to do so. Departure from Australian WHS standards on the basis that meeting such standards is not “reasonably practicable” should only be accepted where it is defensible to do so, supported by a clear, persuasive and documented explanation. In such cases, the project should meet the highest standard that is reasonably practicable, with hazard mitigation measures supported by a hazard identification and risk assessment report identifying the residual risks of injury and illness to any workers or third parties, and proposed mitigation strategy.

5. Recipients of DAP funding must ensure that the work conducted in relation to this project is undertaken in a safe manner and complies with all applicable local laws, standards and policies that relate to health and safety.
